The Monuments Men is an action drama focusing on an unlikely World War II platoon, tasked by FDR with going into Germany to rescue artistic masterpieces from Nazi thieves and returning them to their rightful owners. It would be an impossible mission: with the art trapped behind enemy lines, and with the German army under orders to destroy everything as the Reich fell, how could these guys - seven museum directors, curators, and art historians, all more familiar with Michelangelo than the M-1 - possibly hope to succeed?

Edsel, the film follows the story of the Monuments, Fine Arts, and Archives program, an Allied group, tasked with saving pieces of art and other culturally important items before their destruction by Hitler during World War II.
 
The film was originally set to be released on December 18, 2013. A trailer was released on August 8, 2013 On October 22, 2013, the film was pushed back to an unspecified date in February 2014, because post-production was taking longer than expected.On October 24, 2013, it was announced that the film would be released on February 7, 2014 at the 64th Berlin International Film Festival.
